LONDON – Helicopter maker Eurocopter says it has issued an international safety notice after a fault was found in the fuel indication system in the same type of aircraft that crashed into a Scottish pub last month.
The company says Bond Air Services and two other operators found the issue in the fuel indication system of the EC135 helicopter — the same kind that crashed Nov. 29, killing 10 people. Eurocopter says initial analysis shows that the indication of the fuel quantity in the supply tanks "could be overestimated."
The company began tests after the helicopter's operator, Bond Air Services, temporarily suspended flights of its 22 EC135 aircraft.
There are some 1,100 EC135 helicopters operational in 58 countries worldwide.
