News reports say four Westerners who posed naked on Malaysia's highest peak have pleaded guilty to a charge of obscene behavior in a public place.

The four were among 10 foreigners who stripped naked and took photos on Mount Kinabalu on May 30. A local official has said the foreigners' behavior caused an earthquake at the mountain last Friday that killed 18 climbers.

The Star newspaper said on its website that Dutch citizen Dylan Snel, British student Eleanor Hawkins and Canadian siblings Lindsey Petersen and Danielle Peterson were charged and pleaded guilty Friday in a court in Sabah state on Borneo island.

The newspaper said the court was told the two men were totally nude while the women were topless.

Lawyers and police could not immediately be reached for comment.
