Sandusky Arrested Again After More Allegations of Sexual Abuse

Jerry Sandusky was arrested again on Wednesday afternoon for sexual abuse after an additional twelve charges were filed against him.

The scandal-scarred former defensive coordinator for Penn State was led out of his State College, Pa home and brought to the court in nearby Bellefonte for arraignment where bail was set for $250,000. If he can make bail, he will be required to wear an ankle bracelet for monitoring while under house arrest. He must also avoid contact with any of the victims and no unsupervised contact with minors, according to a spokesperson for the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office.

Sandusky, who was wearing a Penn State tracksuit, was taken to Centre County Correctional Facility to be processed after he was unable to immediately post bail, according to court documents.

The latest charges come after a grand jury testimony from two additional men who claim they were targeted by Sandusky when they were children bringing the total number of alleged victims to ten.

“As in many other cases identified to date, the contact with Sandusky allegedly fit a pattern of ‘grooming’ victims,” said Pennsylvania Attorney General Linda Kelly in a released statement, “Beginning with outings to football games and gifts; they later included physical contact that escalated to sexual assaults.”

According to the grand jury presentment, the ninth victim first met Sandusky back in 2004 while at a summer camp run by the coach’s charity the Second Mile, when he was 11 or 12 years old. He alleges that Sandusky approached him to converse, during which he expressed an interest in spending more time with the child.

Sandusky took victim nine to numerous Penn State University Football games and showered him with gifts and money. Soon after, the boy spent nights at Sandusky’s home where “behavior such as hugging, rubbing, cuddling, and tickling…escalated to sexual assaults.”

The victim also alleges that sexual acts occurred in a pool and Jacuzzi area of a hotel near State College, PA and that Sandusky had told him that he loved and cared for the boy and that they should not tell anyone about their activities.

The unnamed tenth victim was originally referred to The Second Mile back in 1997 when he was ten-years-old by a counselor due to some issues he was having a home. Sandusky approached him in summer camp as well and also took him to several Nittany Lions games.

While spending time in the coach’s home, “wrestling sessions” occurred between to two which led to Sandusky allegedly performing oral sex on the child.

Victim Ten also detailed an incident that occurred at a swimming pool on campus and another in a car where Sandusky exposed himself before asking for oral sex from the boy.

As with Sandusky’s other alleged victims, he was given gifts and frequently told by the coach that he loved him.

Sandusky now has a staggering 52 charges against him. The charges added Tuesday include involuntary sexual intercourse, unlawful contact with a minor, indecent assault, corruption of minors, and endangering the welfare of a minor, according to the Attorney General’s office. He is due to go before a judge this coming Tuesday in a preliminary hearing.

Sandusky’s attorney did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

In other developments on Wednesday, it was discovered that Sandusky was denied a coaching position at another Pennsylvania college last year after a routine background check revealed that he was being investigated on allegations of sexual abuse that was later detailed by the grand jury.

Sandusky applied for a volunteer coaching and consulting position for the football team at Juniata College in Huntingdon, PA back in May 2010 after the head coach urged the school to hire him. But it was during the check that a red flag was raised due to allegations of abuse at Central Mountain High School, where he was volunteering.
