Two deputies involved in the fatal shooting of a 19-year-old man in rural Virginia have been suspended.

The Daily Progress reports (http://bit.ly/1LuoYx8) Buckingham County Sheriff William G. Kidd Jr. says their names won't be released until a state police investigation is completed.

Virginia State Police spokeswoman Corinne Geller said Saturday that Dyzhawn L. Perkins had been shot earlier that day by Buckingham County deputies after he attacked one of them.

She said state police went to a store after a report that Perkins had attacked two people there. Geller said Perkins then broke into a residence and assaulted an elderly couple.

Deputies arrived at the home, where Geller said Perkins attacked one of them.

Geller said deputies fired at Perkins, killing him. Authorities have not said whether he was armed.
