Zverev's run ends in Hamburg semifinals

Hamburg, Germany (SportsNetwork.com) - Alexander Zverev's dream run at the Bet-at-Home Open is over.

The 17-year-old wild card lost 6-0, 6-1 to top-seeded Spaniard David Ferrer Saturday in the semifinals of his hometown tournament.

Zverev was the first 17-year-old to reach an ATP semifinals since Marin Cilic lost to Feliciano Lopez in the 2006 Gstaad tournament. The 285th-ranked Zverev had never won a tour-level match before this week.

Another German, Philip Kohlschreiber, was eliminated on native soil. Argentina's Leonardo Mayer upset the seventh-seeded Kohlschreiber 7-5, 6-4 to reach his second career final. He was the runner-up to Fabio Fognini at Vina del Mar in February.

Ferrer, meanwhile, will be seeking his 22nd career title and second this season. He defeated Fognini in the Buenos Aires final in February.
