Varlamov back in net for Russia vs. Slovakia

Sochi, Russia ( - Goaltender Semyon Varlamov will be back between the pipes for Russia on Sunday when the team takes on Slovakia in the men's hockey tournament at the Sochi Olympics.

Varlamov started Russia's Olympic opener against Slovenia and allowed two goals on 14 shots in a 5-2 win, but the 25-year-old netminder was replaced by Sergei Bobrovsky for Saturday's showdown with the United States.

Bobrovsky made 31 saves through overtime, but was unable to stop American T.J. Oshie in the eighth round of the shootout, giving the U.S. a 3-2 win over Russia.

Varlamov is 28-11-5 through 46 games with the Colorado Avalanche of the NHL this season, while Bobrovsky, the reigning Vezina Trophy winner in the NHL, is 20-14-3 over 37 games for the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2013-14.
