The Houston Texans have taken Arizona linebacker Brooks Reed in the second round of the NFL draft.

The 6-foot-2, 255-pound Reed started 27 games for the Wildcats, recording 87 tackles, including 15 sacks. He also forced four fumbles and deflected four passes.

The Texans took Wisconsin defensive end J.J. Watt with the 11th overall pick on Thursday night. Defensive coordinator Wade Phillips vowed that the Texans would continue to use the draft to revamp the NFL's 30th-ranked defense.

Houston has six selections remaining, including the final overall pick, reserved for the so-called "Mr. Irrelevant."
