Renton, WA – Seattle Seahawks tight end John Carlson will ending surgery to repair a torn labrum, head coach Pete Carroll announced after the team's practice Tuesday.
Carlson suffered the injury when he dove for a pass during an August 13 practice. Tests performed Monday indicated the need for surgery.
He was slated to be part of a tight end duo with Zach Miller, who signed with Seattle earlier this month.
"We were really counting on this," Carroll said. "We were so excited about having Zach and John play together. Unfortunately, that's not going to happen now."
In three NFL seasons, all with Seattle, Carlson has played in 47 games -- 38 starts -- and totaled 137 catches for 1,519 yards and 13 touchdowns.
