NEW YORK (Reuters) - The Seattle Seahawks signed special teams standout Sean Morey to a multi-year contract, the team said on Monday in a bid to bolster its punt and kickoff coverage units.
The 34-year-old wide receiver has only 11 catches as a wide receiver in the NFL but is known more for his special teams play. Morey was named to the NFL's 2008 Pro Bowl after leading the Arizona Cardinals with 22 special teams tackles.
Last season Morey earned Player of the Week honors after he blocked a punt in overtime against the Dallas Cowboys that was recovered and returned for a game-winning touchdown by then team mate Monty Beisel.
Morey, drafted in the seventh-round by New England in 1999, spent the last three seasons with the Arizona Cardinals. He has led his team in special teams tackles five times in seven full NFL seasons.
