Manny Pacquiao's trainer, Freddie Roach, will talk with FOXSports.com each week leading up to Pacquiao's welterweight title fight Saturday with Joshua Clottey (on HBO pay-per-view).

This is the third in a four-part series. Part I | Part II

FOXSports.com: How'd training go this week?

Roach: Great. We're in great shape and we're ready to go to Texas on Monday.

FOXSports.com: What are you doing differently to prepare for this fight than some of the others?

Roach: We're studying what Clottey does well, what he does in certain situations and how to deal with his passive defense. We know how to break that defense.

FOXSports.com: Since you and Manny have been together such a long time, are you focusing more of your training on mental preparation. Or are there technical things you're still working on?

Roach: More strategy than mental preparation. He's very sharp-minded. I have a lot of confidence in him. We're better at finding the flaws. In every situation, we do the same thing. Clottey's very particular. He throws a lot of the same combinations all the time. Pretty much we study the opponent to nullify or take advantage.

FOXSports.com: Does Clottey do anything that scare you?

Roach: Nope. Nope. He's very predictable. We know every move he's makes. We've studied him for the last month. I'm tired of watching Clottey, but I'll maybe watch a bit more so I don't miss nothing.

FOXSports.com: Do you see your role changing in this fight -- this is a different level fight than the Oscar De La Hoya fight?

Roach: We train the same every opponent. We don't take anyone lightly. We train condition-wise. Over the years, we watch the tapes and come up with different strategies. We are going to have sparring partners more conducive to the style of person we're fighting. We'll use speed guys, medium, strong guys, big guys to spar. So, we're coming at a basis pretty much so that whatever Clottey does bring, we'll be ready for him and we can make adjustments. He knows the game plan right now. He boxed four rounds yesterday (Thursday). He looked really sharp. I'm just happy where he's at.

FOXSports.com: How's scary is it to fight somebody with everything to gain and nothing to lose?

Roach: The thing is I really don't believe in that. You have a lot to lose when you fight Manny Pacquiao. You could get knocked out. The pride of people is at stake Does Clottey have nothing to lose? He has a fight to lose. You need to win to have a future. Your future when you lose is not quite good as when you win. There's a lot more at stake than nothing to lose. The thing is I look at it that he has everything to gain. I expect him to be at his best. If I didn't expect that, I'd be a fool.
