Radwanska rolls into quarters; Cornet exits Tashkent

Second seed Urszula Radwanska was an easy second-round winner, while third-seeded Alize Cornet lost Wednesday at the $220,000 Tashkent Open.

The Polish Radwanska, the younger sister of world No. 3 star Agnieszka Radwanska, cruised past Russian Vitalia Diatchenko 6-2, 6-2, while the French Cornet gave way to Romanian Irina-Camelia Begu 6-4, 6-1 on the hardcourts at Olympic Tennis School.

Four other seeds landed in Thursday's quarterfinals, as No. 5 Romanian Alexandra Cadantu overcame Uzbekistanian wild card Sabina Sharipova 1-6, 6-3, 6-3; No. 6 Serb Bojana Jovanovski outlasted Greek Eleni Daniilidou 6-3, 6-7 (8-10), 6-3; No. 7 Russian Alexandra Panova handled Japanese Misaki Doi 6-4, 6-4; and No. 8 Galina Voskoboeva of Kazakhstan whipped qualifier and former top-10 Russian Anna Chakvetadze 6-1, 6-3.

Two other Day-3 results saw Croatian qualifier Donna Vekic vault past Spaniard Lara Arruabarrena-Vecino 6-2, 6-2 and Czech Eva Birnerova whip Italian Karin Knapp 6-2, 6-2. Birnerova was last year's Tashkent runner-up to Russian Ksenia Pervak.

The quarters will pit Radwanska against Panova; Cadantu versus Birnerova; Jovanovski against Vekic; and Voskoboeva versus Begu.
