Frank Hassell scored 18 points, including the game's final four, to lead Old Dominion over George Mason 69-65 on Saturday.

The Monarchs led 63-57 before the Patriots (10-5, 2-2) went on an 8-2 run, sparked by five straight from Ryan Pearson, to tie it at 65 with 1:49 to play.

Hassell made a layup 27 seconds later, and after two misses by George Mason, made his only two free throws of the game for the final margin with 2 seconds remaining.

The Monarchs (12-3, 3-1 Colonial Athletic Association) outscored George Mason 40-36 in the paint, had 23 second-chance points and grabbed 18 of their 35 rebounds on the offensive glass.

Kent Bazemore had 13 points, Darius James 12 and Ben Finney 11 for Old Dominion.

The Patriots were led by Cam Long's 23 points on 9-of-14 shooting, including 4 of 4 from 3-point range. Luke Hancock and Ryan Pearson scored 13 each for George Mason.
