Oklahoma advances following 3-2 win over Carolina

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) — Bobby Shore scattered four hits over seven-plus innings and Oklahoma overcame leaving 11 runners in scoring position, beating North Carolina 3-2 on Sunday night in the Norman Regional and advancing to the super regionals.

The Sooners (39-21) finished with 15 players left on base, but Shore (9-4) went a season-long 7 1-3 innings and struck out six without walking a batter. Oklahoma stranded a runner in scoring position for eight straight innings and left a runner on base every inning.

Still, the Sooners were able to edge the Tar Heels (46-16), who were looking for their fifth straight trip to the College World Series. Michael Morin (5-3) took the loss.

Oklahoma will play Virginia or St. John's in the super regionals next weekend.
