Montoya slowly getting up to speed in return to IndyCar with Team Penske
ORLANDO, Fla. – Juan Pablo Montoya took a job in IndyCar with Roger Penske because he wanted to win races again.
He believes he'll fulfill that goal. It just might take more time than anyone expected.
Montoya's return to Indy cars has not been easy after a seven-year absence. Montoya last ran in CART in 2000 and left Formula One midway through the 2006 season for NASCAR. Now he finds himself back in an open wheel car and near the bottom of the time sheets in every test session he's participated.
But Montoya says his speed has been fine, even though he's one of the few drivers testing without the new 2014 Chevrolet engine. His issues have been related to getting used to the Indy car and learning the braking zones.
