Liverpool striker Fabio Borini suffered a fractured right foot in training with the Italian Under-21 side and will be sidelined for an undisclosed period, Italy's FA announced Thursday.

The 21-year-old Borini has played once for Italy at the senior level, as well as on many youth levels. He joined Liverpool from Roma in July, and had played in 10 matches for the Reds.

Borini will likely miss an extended period, leaving Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers with just one experienced striker in Luis Suarez.
