Top-seeded Angelique Kerber was an easy winner in her quarterfinal match on Friday at the $235,000 Monterrey Open.

Germany's Kerber had no problems in a 6-2, 6-1 victory over eight-seeded Japanese Ayumi Morita in a match that lasted just over 51 minutes on the hardcourts at Sierra Madre Tennis Club.

Fifth-seeded Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova took a 6-2, 7-5 victory over American Lauren Davis while the final match of the night saw third-seeded Russian Maria Kirilenko defeat seventh-seeded Pole Urszula Radwanska 6-1, 6-4.

In a match between two unseeded players, Romanian Monica Niculescu took down Hungarian Timea Babos 7-5, 6-2.

This week's Monterrey champ will collect $40,000.
