Michael Porrini scored 21 points and Justin Greene had 17 points to lead Kent State to an 80-63 win over Bowling Green on Tuesday night.

The Golden Flashes (10-6, 1-1 Mid-American Conference) snapped a three-game losing streak and avoided the program's first 0-2 start in conference play since 1996-97. Kent State also ended Bowling Green's (6-10, 1-1) win streak at four games.

Porrini, who also finished with eight assists and eight rebounds, made a jumper with 4 minutes left in the first half to give the Golden Flashes a 33-15 lead. Rodriquez Sherman hit two free throws with 16:52 to play, pushing Kent State's advantage to 25 points — its largest of the game.

Bowling Green cut the deficit to 58-48 after Dee Brown's 3-pointer with 8:45 remaining. But the Falcons did not pull closer as Kent State answered with six straight points to help them pull away.
