Lorient, France (SportsNetwork.com) - Lorient announced on Monday that midfielder Yann Jouffre has signed a two-year contract extension that ties him to the club until 2016.

Jouffre joined Lorient from Guingamp in 2008 and has gone on to make 147 appearances in Ligue 1 for the team.

"I am very pleased to extend here," Jouffre told the club's official website. "I think on playing and family levels it is the best choice.

"I am a loyal player and I need to feel good where I am."

The 29-year-old has scored a career-high six goals with five assists in 21 league matches this term to help Lorient to within three points of a place in the top five.
