World No. 1 Luke Donald announced on HSBC Champions to be with his wife for the birth of the couple's second child.

Donald won the PGA Tour money title with his victory last week in Disney World. He leads the European Tour's money list, the Race to Dubai, and can become the first player in history to win both money races.

"Making history in the sport is very important to me, but the roles of husband and father are the most important in the world to me and being there for my wife and family is where I have to be," said Donald.

The WGC event is not official on the PGA Tour, but is on the European Tour, which has five weeks left in its regular season.

"My goal has been to try and top the money list on the PGA Tour and the European Tour and I still hope to accomplish that," said the No. 1 ranked player in the world. "WGC-HSBC Champions is a world-class event and as a player you look forward to competing against the best. I think it is great for the game to have such an important event in Asia, and I look forward to being able to participate next year."

Donald shared third place last year.
