NEW YORK (Reuters) - Phoenix Coyotes defenseman Ed Jovanovski has been suspended for two games for elbowing New York Islanders center John Tavares, the NHL said on Monday.

It is the second time in just over a month that Jovanovski has been hit with a two-game ban and as a repeat offender he will forfeit $158,536.59 in salary based on the number of games (82) in a season.

The Coyotes defenseman was given a major penalty for elbowing and a game misconduct.
