Brandon Clark had 32 points, making 16-of-17 free throws, and scored 13 of the team's last 19 points to lead Santa Clara to a 90-70 win over Cal State Fullerton to open the season on Friday night.

Denzel Johnson scored 15 points including 3-of-4 from 3-point range and Matt Hubbard finished with 11 points and five rebounds for Santa Clara. The Broncos shot 49 percent from the field and 69 percent behind on 11-of-16 shooting. Clark, who also had seven rebounds, shot 17 of the team's 32 free throw attempts.

Lanerryl Johnson had 19 points including 3-of-5 from 3-point range, Moses Morgan had 16 points and Joe Boyd had 12 points and seven rebounds.

A 3-pointer by Clark gave Santa Clara a 23-8 lead midway through the first, three of Clark's nine first-half points. The Broncos finished the game on a 13-5 run.
