NEW YORK (Reuters) - Cleveland Cavaliers center Shaquille O'Neal will be out of action for approximately eight weeks after undergoing surgery on his right thumb, the NBA team said on Monday.
O'Neal, who has played a key role for the NBA leaders, injured his thumb while playing against the Boston Celtics on Thursday.
The injury means O'Neal could miss the start of the NBA playoffs. The regular season ends on April 14 with the playoffs beginning later that week.
