The Cardinals did not release financial terms for Whisenhunt's contract but The Arizona Republic reported on its website (www.azcentral.com) that the deal would earn the coach an average of between $5.5 million and $6 million per year.
The newspaper said the Cardinals replaced Whisenhunt's most recent contract, which had two years remaining, with a four-year deal with an option for a fifth season.
Whisenhunt becomes the first Cardinals coach to receive a contract extension since the team moved to Arizona in 1988, the Cardinals said on their website (www.azcardinals.com).
Graves has been the Cardinals' general manager since 2007. He also signed a four-year deal.
