Englewood, CO – The Denver Broncos acquired guard John Moffitt from the Seattle Seahawks on Tuesday, one day after an agreed-upon deal with the Cleveland Browns for the former third-round pick was voided.
According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Moffitt -- who had been sent to the Browns by the Seahawks Monday in exchange for defensive lineman Brian Sanford -- failed a physical.
Seattle then turned around and traded the third-year pro to Denver for reserve defensive tackle Sealver Siliga.
Moffitt started 15 games for the Seahawks during his first two NFL seasons, but had been bypassed by second-year pro J.R. Sweezy on the depth chart at right guard during camp. He joins a Broncos squad that has dealt with injuries along the interior of the offensive line, with starting center J.D. Walton sidelined until possibly midseason while recovering from ankle surgery and intended replacement Dan Koppen tearing his ACL early in training camp.
Siliga, an undrafted free agent, spent his rookie season of 2011 on Denver's practice squad and was active for only one game with the Broncos last year.
