Brandon Crawford had hardly united with fellow middle infielder Joe Panik before he was back in the Giants' sick bay.

In the Giants' 6-2 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday, the shortstop reinjured his oblique and left calf, which will cause him to be inactive for at least a few days after missing time due to oblique tightness in August and a calf injury in early September after being hit by a pitch.

Manager Brue Bochy said Crawford's oblique injury flared up again when he made a tough play that required him to throw across his body on the run.

"I think one's affecting the other," Bochy said of Crawford's injuries. "He's going to need a couple days, hopefully not more."

Crawford was in the midst of a career year at the plate before was hit by the injury bug.

The 28-year-old infielder holds career highs in home runs (19) and RBI (77), but his average (.255), which also remains a career high, has dipped since his bout with injuries began in August.

While Crawford was hitting .265/.324/.482 prior to his injury spell on Aug. 25, he is now batting .255/.315/.463 after going 2 for 24 (.083) in his last six games.
