New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Columbus Blue Jackets forward Derek MacKenzie has been suspended three games without pay for boarding Coyotes defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson during Thursday's matchup in Glendale.
The incident occurred at the 8:46 mark of the first period when MacKenzie sent Ekman-Larsson face-first into the boards near the Blue Jackets' blue line.
No penalty was assessed for the hit, which caused Ekman-Larsson to miss the remainder of the contest.
MacKenzie will forfeit $15,384.63 for the infraction. The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
