The Buffalo Bills have released quarterback Kevin Kolb, as expected.

Kolb, signed as a free agent last April 8, suffered a concussion during the preseason and didn't play a down for the Bills in the regular season.

The Bills said Tuesday that Kolb, who also missed games in the 2010 and 2011 seasons with separate concussions, failed a physical.

The 29-year-old last played in 2012 for Arizona. In the two seasons after he was traded to the Cardinals from Philadelphia, Kolb appeared in 15 games with 14 starts.

He has passed for 5,206 yards and 28 touchdowns with 25 interceptions in 34 NFL games, including 21 starts.
