Oakland, CA – The Oakland Athletics announced on Monday that pitcher Joey Devine will undergo surgery on his right elbow.
The procedure will be performed by Dr. James Andrews on Tuesday in Pensacola, Florida. Details will be released following the surgery.
Devine was placed on the 15-day disabled list on March 28, retroactive to March 24, after appearing in just three games in spring training.
The 28-year-old appeared in 26 games for the Athletics last season and went 1-1 with a 3.52 earned run average.
He had missed the previous two seasons after undergoing Tommy John surgery on his pitching elbow in April of 2009.
For his career, Devine is 8-3 with one save and a 2.75 ERA in 93 relief appearances over five big league seasons with Atlanta and the Athletics.
