After the Court of Arbitration for Sport ruled that Jordan Chiles score in the women's floor exercise should have not been increased, the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) has adjusted the final score to reflect the ruling.
Chiles original score of 13.666 was reinstated and she was bumped back down to fifth place. Romania's Ana Barbosa, who initially finished in third before an inquiry to increase Chiles' score was made, jumped back up to third place with a score 13.766. The announcement did not specify the status of Chiles' medal.
Golden State Warriors superstar Steph Curry hit four 3-point shots in the final two minutes and 11 seconds of the gold medal game against France to lead the U.S. to win 98-87.
For Curry, it is his first Olympic medal in his first Olympic appearance. In total, Curry hit eight 3-point shots to account for all 24 of his points.
The first of Curry's clutch late 3-pointer shots had come when France had cut the lead to just three points. From there, Curry did not miss a shot for the remainder of the game.
It is the fifth straight gold medal for the U.S. in the Olympics and eighth in the last nine Olympics.
Noah Lyles posted a picture with a negative COVID-19 test with a caption that read "Thank God, I am Covid free," on Saturday afternoon.
Lyles finished third in the men's 200-meter final on Thursday despite being a heavy favorite, and after collapsing on the track and needing medical attention after the race, it was reported that Lyles tested positive for COVID-19 the day before the race.
"I woke up early, about 5 a.m. on Tuesday morning, and I was just feeling really horrible. I knew it was more than being sore from the 100," Lyles told NBC. "I'd definitely say it's taken its toll, for sure, but I've never been more proud of myself for being able to come out here and get a bronze medal. Last Olympics, I was very disappointed. This time, I couldn't be more proud."
Lyles later announced on social media that his Paris Olympics were "probably over" and he pulled out of the men's 4x100 relay on Friday.
Lyles' coach, Lance Brauman, said the 27-year-old track and field star clinched the bronze despite racing with a 102-degree fever on Friday.
LeBron James has led the U.S. to an eight-point halftime lead over Victor Wembanyama and France.
Devin Booker leads the U.S. with 13 points, James, at 39, has put up seven points and five rebounds.
Wembanyama has 13 points while Guerschon Yabusele leads France with 15. Yabusele hit a buzzer beater at the end of the half to cut the lead down from 10.
Jordan Chiles' bronze medal in the women's floor exercise final is in jeopardy after the Court of Arbitration for Sport ruled that the judging panel at the event had improperly granted an inquiry that increased Chiles' score, which moved her into bronze medal position over Romania's Ana Barbosu.
It is now up to the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) to decide who will get the medal.
If Chiles is stripped of her bronze, she will become the third gymnast in history to have an Olympic medal stripped, and the first to have one stripped for not violating a rule.
The other two were China's Dong Fangxiao and Romania's Andreea Răducan, both of whom lost their medals from the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
Răducan's individual all-around gold medal was stripped after testing positive for a banned substance from cold-medicine pills given to her by a team doctor. China's team all-around bronze was stripped after it was discovered Dong was just 14 years old in Sydney, which is two years too young to compete.
American high jumper Shelby McEwen had a chance to share the gold medal with New Zealand's Hamish Kerr in the men's high jump final. They each failed three times at 2.38m after clearing 2.36m on their first attempts, but instead of splitting the gold, they went to a jump-off.
Kerr emerged victorious in the jump-off victorious, and McEwan took silver. It is McEwan's first Olympic medal.
The U.S. won its 34th track and field of the Paris Olympics with gold in the 4x400 women's relay.
The team of Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, Alexis Holmes, Gabby Thomas and Shamier Little went almost unchallenged for the gold medal, as it spent most of the race so far ahead of the competition that there was no one else even seen on screen when the NBC broadcast camera was focused on an American.
Their time of 3:15.27 set a new American record.
Jamaica fell out of the race in the second lap, clearing the way for the Netherlands to take silver and Great Britain to take bronze.
The U.S. won gold in the men's 4x400 relay with an Olympic record with a 2:54.44. Raj Benjamin closed out the record-breaking performance for the U.S. just one day after winning an individual gold in the men's 400-meter hurdle.
Benjamin outran Botswana's gold medalist Letsile Tebogo, who defeated Noah Lyles for the gold medal in the men's 200-meter final, on the final leg to clinch victory.
For Benjamin, it is his second gold medal of the Tokyo Olympics.
For the U.S., it marks a victory over Tebogo, who took a subtle dig at Lyles, after he was asked about becoming the face of men’s track following his victory in the 200-meter final on Thursday. Tebogo suggested that Lyles was "arrogant" and "loud" after the 200-meter final, which Lyles won bronze in after testing positive for covid and having a 102-degree fever.
American gymnast Jordan Chiles may lose her Olympic bronze medal after the Court of Arbitration for Sport ruled that the judging panel at the event had improperly granted an inquiry that increased Chiles' score, which moved her into bronze medal position over Romania's Ana Barbosu.
Barbosu initially clinched the bronze medal for floor on Monday and began celebrating on the mat. But then U.S. coaches appealed to judges over Chiles’ score, and a review resulted in a 0.1-point increase, which moved Chiles ahead of Barbosu for the bronze medal.
The Court of Arbitration has now said that Chiles should have received a score of 13.666 in the event, which would've placed her fifth, just shy of the Olympic podium.
Chiles posted a series of emotional stories on Instagram Saturday in response to the ruling, including one that showed a series of broken heart emojis, and another that included her announcement that she would be leaving social media.
"I am taking this time and removing myself from social media for my mental health," Chiles wrote.
In just his second Olympics, Grant Fisher has made history in Paris.
The American long distance runner secured a bronze medal in the men’s 5,000-meter final on Saturday, finishing behind Jakob Ingebrigtsen of Norway, who won the gold medal with a season best of 13:13.66.
It was Fisher’s second medal of these Games – he stunned the field in the men’s 10,000-meter final to win bronze. It is the first time an American has ever medaled in both events.
Fisher improved on his Olympic debut in Tokyo where he was a finalist in both events, but failed to medal.
American Masai Russell is an Olympic champion after pulling off a narrow victory in the women’s 100-meter hurdles final on Saturday, beating out France's Cyrena Samba-Mayela by one one-hundredths of a second.

NWSL star Mallory Swanson scored the sole goal of the game at the 57th minute, but a frustrated Brazilian squad was unable to respond even with 10 minutes of stoppage time in the second half.
It marks the first gold medal for Team USA since the 2012 London Games, and their fifth overall.Brazil has now won three silver medals, being denied a title every time by the U.S.
Mallory Swanson has put the United States on the board, breaking nearly 60 minutes of scoreless soccer with a game-changing goal in the second half of Saturday’s gold medal match against Brazil.
The U.S. took the first lead of the title game in Paris when Swanson beat out Brazil's Lorena to find the back of the net at the 57th minute.
The goal quickly changed the momentum of the game, giving Team USA the upper hand.
The score at halftime in the gold medal match between the USWNT and Brazil remained 0-0 after six minutes of stoppage time, but Brazil entered the locker room having put on a dominant performance.
Brazil had 54% ball possession and four shots on their American counterparts, keeping goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher and defender Naomi Girma on their toes for much of the match.
Brazil, who has twice been denied Olympic gold by the USWNT, found the net early on but an offsides call would keep the score leveled.
USA fans at Parc des Princes in Paris on Saturday held their breath early on in the first half of the gold medal match between the USWNT and Brazil after two-time Olympian Ludmila found the back of the net.
The Americans were facing a 1-0 hole, but the officials immediately waved the offsides flag.
The call was reviewed and no goal was rewarded.
The USWNT is chasing a record fifth Olympic gold medal.
Nelly Korda was within striking distance of a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics for the first three days of competition, but she is sitting +3 on the day and 1-under par for the tournament after 17 holes on Saturday.
After putting a ball in the water at the 15th hole and triple bogeying the hole, Korda's medal hopes are on life support.
The world no.1 ranked golfer struggled with the last four holes of the course all week. At one point during the second round, she held sole possession of second place before a quad bogey on the 16th hole followed by a bogey on the 17th hole.
Barring something extraordinary, it seems unlikely Korda will medal in the women’s Olympic Golf tournament.
