Actress Olivia Cooke revealed that the upcoming "Game of Thrones" prequel series, "House of the Dragon," will take a very different approach with its depiction of women.
The show is based on HBO’s immensely popular series "Game of Thrones," which aired its final episode in May of 2019. Since that time, the network has greenlit a prequel series based on author George R.R. Martin’s companion book "Fire & Blood" that’s set 300 years before the events of the original show.
While precious little else is known about the show, which has been given a ten-episode order, Cooke revealed in an interview with The Telegraph that it will be more socially conscious when it comes to its depictions of violence against women.

The show faced some controversy over scenes depicting subject matter like rape and had been criticized early on for showing gratuitous female nudity. During her interview, the star explained that she doesn’t believe the new show will include anything that walks such a controversial line this time around.
"I wouldn’t feel comfortable in being a part of anything that has just egregious graphic violence towards women for no reason whatsoever, just because they want it to be tantalising in a way that gets viewers," she says. "I was lucky enough to read the script before, and it has changed a lot from the first few seasons. I don’t think they’d be in their right minds to include any of that anymore."

Representatives for HBO did not immediately respond to Fox News’ request for comment.

Unfortunately for eager "Thrones" fans, she wasn’t able to discuss much else about the show. However, she did confess that she hadn’t watched a single episode before auditioning for her role in the prequel series. After getting the part, though, she binged-watched the whole season and had some thoughts of her own on the highly controversial finale.
"I saw too many clips, just being alive at the time, so I knew what was going to happen," she explained.

The star went on to note that she was "OK with it" because her expectations were tempered before going into the show. However, she confessed that the immense backlash made her nervous to join in on the new one.
"You’re never gonna please everyone, so I’ve just got to not listen to that stuff," she concluded.

According to Deadline, Cooke will play Alicent Hightower, the daughter of Otto Hightower, the Hand of the King who is described as "the most comely woman in the Seven Kingdoms" as well as someone with "courtly grace and a keen political acumen."
