A federal arrest warrant says a fugitive Los Angeles rookie police officer charged with murder for killing a man during an off-duty fight has fled to Texas with his father's help.

The warrant, filed Thursday, says that 27-year-old Henry Solis called his father, Victor Solis of Lancaster, for help after a brawl outside a downtown Pomona bar early Friday ended with him fatally shooting 23-year-old Salome Rodriguez.

The elder Solis told FBI agents that he drove his son to an El Paso bus stop, but he doesn't know where Henry Solis is now.

Family and friends told authorities that Henry Solis made incriminating statements about his role in the murder afterward and said he'd never be seen again.

Chief Charlie Beck fired the probationary officer from the Los Angeles Police Department on Tuesday.
