Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio says he has plans to launch his 19th crime and immigration sweep somewhere in metropolitan Phoenix.

The sheriff wouldn't specify a date for the sweep, but says it will happen probably in March. He wouldn't reveal a location for the sweep.

During the sweeps, deputies flood an area of a city -- in some cases heavily Latino areas -- to seek out traffic violators and arrest other violators.

Critics say Arpaio's deputies have racially profiled Hispanics during the sweeps.

The sheriff says deputies approach people only when they have probable cause to believe people had committed crimes.
