"Hunger Games" star Amandla Stenberg "got real" about her sexuality in a recent interview confirming that she is a lesbian.

"Yep, I'm gay," Stenberg told the Wonderland Magazine in a recent interview.

The 19-year-old actress gave fans a preview of the interview, which was published Monday, in an Instagram post over the weekend, adding that she was "so happy to say the words" in print. Stenberg thanked interviewer King Princess, a stage name for pop artist Mikaela Straus, for giving her a "space safe" to come out.

"Interviewed for @wonderland by someone I stan infinitely – the fiercest garbagio pop queen @kingprincess69," Stenberg wrote. "We talk about gay sobbing, first encounters with lesbian masturbation, queer icons, Toni Morrison, disillusionment as a critical step, the art I’ve been working on, and the films that I have coming out this year."

"One might assume that they were mournful sobs, but actually quite the opposite in my lived experience. They were joyful and overwhelmed sobs," she told Wonderland. "I was flooded with a sense of calm and peace because everything that I struggled with or felt discomfort around finally made sense to me, and once those floodgates opened and years of pent up pain and shame were released, I found the freedom to live my best life waiting for me just underneath."

Stenberg is starring in Fox 2000's upcoming drama "The Hate U Give," a film based on an award-winning novel written by Angie Thomas. It's set to be released on October 19.
