SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – Police in Puerto Rico say they have arrested a special education teacher and her husband after raiding the couple's upscale home and seizing $2.4 million worth of cocaine.
Authorities said Wednesday that the 78 kilograms (172 pounds) of cocaine were found in the living room. The bricks were stamped with the symbol of an apple.
Police identified the suspects as 39-year-old Wilnelia Martinez and 48-year-old Jose Rosario. It was not immediately clear if they had an attorney.
Authorities said the couple lived in the central mountain town of Cayey and that the drugs likely belong to a trafficking ring that operates in the island's central region.
Police said the government has taken custody of three children who were home at the time of the raid late Tuesday.
