Iran's semiofficial Mehr news agency is reporting the country has stopped oil exports to Spain.

The Tuesday report quotes unnamed sources as saying the country has stopped the sale of crude to Spain as part of Tehran's pre-emptive retaliation over an EU embargo that is to go into effect in July.

The embargo was imposed over Tehran's controversial nuclear program.

Mehr said Iran may also cut its oil exports to Italy. It said Iran has contacted Italian refineries, demanding they agree to long term contracts to buy oil from Iran.

Earlier on Tuesday Iran said the country has halted oil sales to Greece

Iran has already imposed oil embargoes on Britain and France.

The West suspects Tehran of pursuing nuclear weapons, a charge Iran denies.
