An Indiana mother who had snatched her two small children from their guardian said she decided to kill her two children after learning that authorities had issued an Amber Alert for them.

Amber Pasztor told WANE-TV on Monday that she killed her two children – 7-year-old Liliana Hernandez and 6-year-old Rene Pasztor – so that they would be safe in heaven.

The 29-year-old Fort Wayne woman, who is charged with two counts of murder, said that while her kids were in good hands in the custody of their grandfather, she didn’t think they were completely safe.

“They can live traumatized lives — like their mom — or they can go to heaven with God and be better off,” she told the news channel.

During the heart-wrenching interview, Pasztor admitted to killing her daughter first before suffocating her son.

“He wanted to go with her,” she said.

She added: “My kids are in a better place. They’re in heaven now. They don’t have no worries no more.”

Police in Elkhart, Indiana arrested Pasztor on Sept. 26 after she said her two children were dead inside the back of a stolen car. It’s unclear how long the children were dead or where they were killed.

Pasztor also told WANE-TV she shot her neighbor and took his car. She hasn't been charged with Frank Macomber's death.
