Germany's Foreign Ministry says it is organizing an international conference on the refugee crisis resulting from the conflicts in Syria and Iraq.

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Sawsan Chebli said Monday that Germany was planning the conference for Oct. 28, "since we can't assume that the situation in Syria will get better in the coming months."

It was not immediately clear where the conference would be held.

The announcement comes after Turkish officials said that some 130,000 refugees from Syria had spilled into their country over the past four days as they fled the advance of Islamic State militants.

The conflict in Syria has pushed more than a million people over the border into Turkey in the past 3½ years.
