The remains of Breeann Rodriguez, 3, who disappeared in the Missouri Bootheel a week and a half ago, will be examined later Wednesday.
Her body was found Tuesday around 9:00 pm in a drainage ditch in Dunklin County. Authorities had been feverishly searching for her since she went missing while riding her bike near her Senath home.
A neighbor, Shawn Morgan, has been charged with her murder. He allegedly told police he suffocated the girl with a plastic bag after finding her standing on his pool ladder.
Residents in Senath are in shock, “He has kids. We want to know why would he hurt her family like this and his family? Not just us, but his family is suffering a lot right now."
Morgan did not enter a plea when he made his first court appearance Tuesday, wearing a bullet-proof vest.
