Authorities say a 19-year-old man kidnapped his ex-girlfriend and then was hit by a truck and killed on a North Carolina highway while running away from his car.

Troopers said Avery Moses rammed his ex-girlfriend's car in an Asheville parking lot Sunday evening. She got out, and then Moses forced her into his car and drove onto a ramp onto Interstate 26, they said.

Investigators say two people followed them from the parking lot and found the car stopped on the ramp. One took his keys while the other called 911.

Troopers say Moses then tried to run across the interstate and was hit by a truck and two other vehicles. The woman was not seriously injured.
