The Latest: 'Shelter in place' lifted amid hunt for shooter

MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Latest on a manhunt for an armed suspect after two police officers were shot in Manchester, New Hampshire (all times local):

10:30 a.m.

A police command post has been taken down and a "shelter in place" order for residents has been lifted in a Manchester, New Hampshire, neighborhood after two officers were shot and a manhunt started for an armed suspect.

It wasn't immediately clear why the post was taken down or why the order was lifted. Also, helicopters that were in the area were no longer in the area.

Police Chief Nick Willard said the two officers were shot at separate locations around 2 a.m. Friday, and they are recovering at hospitals and expected to be OK. Manchester Mayor Ted Gatsas said the officers, who were not identified, "seem to be fine."

Gov. Maggie Hassan said Friday she had spoken to both officers and was grateful that they are expected to recover.

Several streets were blocked off and police were seen walking around Friday morning, but they did not appear to be going door-to-door.
