The Latest on reports of shots fired at a shopping mall outside the capital city (all times local):

9:15 p.m.

Columbia Police Chief Skip Holbrook says no one appears to have been injured when a fist fight turned into shooting at a mall outside South Carolina's capital city.

Holbrook said two men fired guns in the air just after 7 p.m. Saturday in front of a jewelry store at the Columbiana Centre mall. Holbrook says the dispute started as a fight between two people, and another joined in.

Holbrook says officers have not found any of the three people they think are involved. He says officers have checked all local hospitals and not found anyone who had been shot.

The chief says officers want to review surveillance video soon. Two hours after the shooting, Holbrook says people were still hiding inside stores.

Teams of heavily armed officers are patrolling roads in an area where shots were reported at a mall in the suburbs of South Carolina's capital city.

A helicopter has also been searching for more than an hour near the Columbiana Centre mall, where deputies from Richland and Lexington counties were called Saturday night after reports of a shooting.

Authorities planned to hold a news conference to update reporters Saturday evening. A woman who owns a boutique in the mall says she saw people drop everything and start running after hearing what she now believes were shots being fired.
