NEW YORK – The Latest on the shooting of a New York City police officer on Tuesday (all times local):
9:30 p.m.
A New York City plainclothes detective shot in the shoulder may have been hit by friendly fire while he was attempting to arrest a drug suspect who also was wounded.
The shooting happened Tuesday evening in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn. Both the officer and the suspect are in stable condition. A second person is in custody.
Police say the officer may have been hit by friendly fire as he and another officer fired four shots at the suspects who were trying to flee in a vehicle.
Police are still searching for a third suspect.

Authorities say a police officer is in stable condition following a shooting in New York City.
New York Police Department spokesman Carlos Nieves says on Twitter the officer was shot in the left shoulder and was "conscious, alert and talking."
The shooting happened Tuesday evening in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn. Nieves says two suspects were taken into custody and police were looking for a third person.
Police provided no further detail on the officer's condition or the circumstances of the shooting.
