Dozens of students from a suburban New York school district have been rescued from a disabled sailboat on the Hudson River.

Police say rescue units pushed the boat ashore near Alpine, New Jersey on Monday after it experienced engine failure.

There were no reported injuries.

The boat is operated by a nonprofit that hosts sailing trips to promote environmental awareness.

The Journal News reports the Irvington School District is postponing another planned field trip on the Clearwater until the boat is repaired.

The Hudson River Sloop Clearwater's Facebook page says its onboard education team kept the passengers calm by playing games and singing songs with the children.

The Journal News says the Clearwater had relaunched six weeks ago following an $850,000 makeover. It originally launched in the late 1960s.
