A South Carolina man faces two counts of murder after being accused of shooting two people who were demanding an unpaid cab fare and burying them in his backyard.

Goose Creek Assistant Police Chief Maj. John Grainger tells local news outlets that 39-year-old James Edward Loftis was charged Sunday.

An arrest affidavit says police went to Loftis' home late Saturday after his wife reported her husband was suicidal and claiming to have killed two people.

The police report says Loftis took a cab home from a night club early Saturday morning and went inside. It says when the driver and another person knocked on the door demanding the fare, Loftis shot them.

The names of the victims haven't been released. It was not immediately clear if Loftis has an attorney.
