Police records show the investigation into the killing of a pediatric dentist is focusing on a Dallas woman who formerly dated the dentist's boyfriend.

Documents show investigators believe the 33-year-old woman may have orchestrated the shooting last week of 35-year-old Kendra Hatcher in the parking garage of her apartment complex.

The ex-girlfriend was arrested over the weekend on traffic warrants and later released. She has not been charged in Hatcher's death.

Twenty-three-year-old Crystal Cortes was arrested Saturday and charged with capital murder.

Records show that Cortes told detectives the former girlfriend paid her $500 to drive an unidentified man to rob Hatcher.

The woman had dated Hatcher's boyfriend until earlier this year.

Online jail records do not indicate an attorney for Cortes to comment on the capital murder charge.
