Miami-Dade County police say officers shot and wounded a man suspected of fatally shooting his wife and son and wounding an attorney he did business with.

The Miami Herald (https://goo.gl/Bolf7T ) reports that 54-year-old Fadel Jabado was shot Wednesday afternoon following a nearly three-hour standoff. It wasn't immediately clear why police fired at Jabado, who they had surrounded inside a vehicle. It also was unclear how many officers fired weapons.

Police said they believe Jabado killed his wife Bessima and their oldest son at their southwest Miami-Dade home and wounded real estate attorney Larry Harshman at his Kendall office.

Three public schools were briefly locked down to secure Jabado's other children.

The conditions of Jabado and Harshman weren't immediately known.

The race of Jabado and the officers involved wasn't immediately reported.
