Police near Atlanta say a former NFL player's mistress abducted his wife and led officers on a chase into Alabama before fatally shooting the wife and herself.

Clayton County police Officer Charlene Watson-Fraser said Monday that Lisa Brown was upset former Buffalo Bills player Buster Barnett planned to take a trip with his wife.

Watson-Fraser said Brown went to the Barnett home July 15 and abducted Sandra Barnett.

A friend was on the phone with Barnett that morning and heard her arguing with someone. Concerned, she asked another friend to check on Barnett. He spotted Brown's SUV out front and got the tag number before calling police.

Sheriff's deputies in west Georgia spotted the SUV the next morning and chased it into Alabama, where authorities say Brown stopped the vehicle and shot Barnett and herself.
