Pittsburgh police say a man jailed in the fatal shooting of his toddler stepson gave differing accounts of the shooting.

Online court records don't list an attorney for 30-year-old Harrison Marshman Jr., who remained jailed Wednesday on charges of criminal homicide and child endangerment.

Police were called about 5 p.m. Tuesday and were greeted by Marshman who was yelling, "Help me. I didn't mean to do it. It was an accident."

Police say 22-month-old Josiah Taylor had a gunshot wound to the chest.

Police say Marshman first told them the boy grabbed Marshman's loaded weapon from a couch and that the gun fired when Marshman tried to take it away. Later, Marshman told police the gun's magazine was removed and the gun fired as he tried to clear the chamber.
