DECATUR, Ga. – Police say another person has been charged after a woman and 11 children were held in an Atlanta area motel room by a man who stabbed himself after a five-hour standoff with authorities.
DeKalb County police Maj. Stephen Fore said Wednesday that 21-year-old Diamond Williams placed a 911 call claiming to be another woman, Shanta King, and alleging domestic assault. Fore says Williams is charged with false report of a crime.
Detectives say Williams made the call following an argument with 36-year-old Korrie Thomas, who was found critically injured after police say he stabbed himself with a knife Tuesday. Fore says Williams was not the woman held with the children ranging from 3 months to 17 years old.
It wasn't known if Williams had an attorney.
Thomas faces charges of false imprisonment and obstruction.
