Times Square was briefly evacuated over the weekend as police investigated a suspicious box truck with wires protruding from its dash board and gas canisters behind its seats.

The New York Times reports (http://nyti.ms/1XaVryO ) a member of the NYPD's Critical Response Command first noticed the unattended truck parked at a bus stop at the intersection of 46th Street and Seventh Avenue on Saturday night.

Police cleared the area of pedestrians and occupied vehicles as officers investigated the truck, which had its keys in the ignition.

The all-clear signal was given about 40 minutes later when it was determined that the gas cans and truck were empty.

Police say the driver of the truck, whose identity wasn't released, was later located and questioned. He has not been charged.
